The project started with questions about the effect of historically grown postcolonial hierarchies on contemporary conflicts, the legacy of postcolonial hierarchies in peace initiative and ways to transform these, as well as postcolonial hierarchies in peace epistemologies. Three years into the project, multiple insights and answers to those questions have emerged or are currently taking shape during the data analysis, which have been discussed at ThinkLabs, Colloquiums and international conferences.
For this virtual ThinkLab, we would like to instead focus on those insights which challenge our initial assumptions, transform the questions we asked or will require future work in a possible second stage. Rather than talking about results per se, we want to focus about new puzzles emerging from the original puzzle and empirical insights challenging the frameworks adopted in this project.
For this internal workshop, network members were asked to send us a short description of a challenge or disruption to their research they have faced in the project. This could be a surprising empirical insight, a new theoretical debate picking up since 2021, a contradiction in your approach, follow-up questions emerging from your results, or something entirely different resonating with the theme of Challenges and Disruptions.
